Hurst is a large city located in northern Texas. It is positioned in the Dallas/Fort Worth Metropolitan Area and is located 25 miles west of Dallas, Texas and 13 miles east of Fort Worth, Texas. The suburban city had a population of approximately 39,160 people in 2016 according to the United States Census Bureau. It is the thirteenth largest city located in Tarrant County.

Prior to the 1840s, the area of modern-day Hurst was occupied by Native American Indians. Eventually, a treaty was signed which opened the area for settlement. Families soon began arriving in the area to establish farms, businesses, and homes. In 1865, the Arwine family arrived in the area and established a community. The community eventually developed to become present-day Hurst, Texas.
